How did it all begin..?

Founded by Brian Burnie, the charity was born out of a simple but powerful idea: no one battling cancer should have to worry about how they will get to treatment.

Brian, a successful businessman turned philanthropist, was inspired to create the charity after witnessing the difficulties many patients faced when travelling long distances for vital care.

Since its establishment, Daft as a Brush has grown into a vital lifeline for thousands of people, offering not just practical help, but also compassion, reassurance and human connection during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

We are delighted to welcome Andrea Glover as the CEO of the Daft as a Brush charity. Her commitment to improving patient care and supporting those in need aligns perfectly with the charity’s mission and we are confident she will build on its remarkable legacy. We look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring to the team, the volunteers and most importantly, the individuals and families who rely on our invaluable service.

Outside of work, Andrea is married to Mick and is mum to two daughters. However, the love of her life is former guide‑dog, Ernie. Andrea is always happy to chat, listen and learn from others, especially if they bring wine or ginger snaps.
