Daft as a Brush Special Events

Join in the fun with daft as a Brush at our special events available throughout the year. From walks and talks to concerts to special evening dinner events, this is a perfect opportunity to support this local charity.

Some of our events require a ticket to be purchased, please contact Daft as a Brush House to purchase. A selection of events are free and all are welcome to attend. The River Tyne Trail – From sources to sea official launch of the book!

The River Tyne Trail-From sources to Sea official launch of the walk. Ceremonial Start Tuesday 19 April at 11.00am from Tynemouth & South Shields piers, Tyne Head, Garrigill & Deadwater, Kielder. Schoolchildren sing “Waters of Tyne” as walkers set out from the two starts and two finishes to converge 3 1/2 days later at “The Meeting of the Waters”, near Warden, Hexham.

Our new shop in Eldon Garden, Newcastle is now open! Call in to meet the team, gain advice and learn more about this great charity. We are located at the top of the escalator, next to John Lewis upper entrance.  The new Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care Walk book is now available in-store. This great walking book by John Laidler and Peter Donaghy is the essential guide to walking the River Tyne, from source to sea. Only £12.99 at the Daft as a Brush shop.

Bede Wind Orchestra at Grey’s Monument will echo with the sound of music!

The Monument will never be the same again as the Bede Wind Orchestra perform a free open-air concert especially in aid of Daft as a Brush.  There is no compulsory ticket purchases, however, our team of volunteers will be on-hand to take small bucket donations.  So come along and enjoy the music!  Thank you.

Frankie was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma and has been through hell these past 18 months with treatment. Sadly news has came that despite recently appearing to be in an improved place of health that he has suffered a relapse and doctors have said they will continue chemo to prolong his life indicating the worst possible outcome for all concerned.
