In recognition of contributions to communities, in 2016 Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

A celebration of the North East – The Living North Changing Lives Award was presented to Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care in 2016.

The Prime Minister recognised the Daft as a Brush free ambulance service. “Your work is improving the lives of thousands of cancer patients undergoing treatment in the North East.”

Local Heroes
The heroes, nominated by people in Tyneside, had their names cast in bronze plaques which will be fixed in place permanently by the River Tyne. Brian Burnie was awarded in 2018.

Brian Burnie has been recognised as a Platinum Champion for his outstanding contribution as a volunteer in the year of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Guinness World Record
The most servings of fish and chips on VJ Day 15th August 2006 at Doxford Hall. 2,500 WWII veterans at a Garden Party organised by Brian Burnie with Len Gibson and many friends.
