Come along and help us kick off Christmas at Daft as a Brush House, (NE3 2DR) on Friday 13th November at 6pm!
We’ll be joined by some very special guests with festive entertainment from the wonderful ‘Harton Harmonisers’ choir, Christmas carol singing and the fantastic sounds of the Salvation Army Brass Band.
Wrap up warm, bring your family and friends and join us for a magical evening as we switch on the lights and celebrate the start of Christmas together.

This Christmas, we’re going a step further! Let’s make Gosforth shine a little brighter and we’d love your help.
Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care is creating a Gosforth Christmas Lights Trail, bringing families and neighbours together to support North East people undergoing cancer treatment – and we’d love your home to be part of it – Small lights making a big difference.
We’ll provide you with a set of 3,000 exterior LED Christmas lights, 37.5 metres, completely FREE of charge to the first 100 homes. All we ask is that you display them outside your home over Christmas and help us create a wonderful trail for the community to enjoy.
Taking part couldn’t be easier. The lights cost around just 4p a day to run, and by joining in you’ll be:

Helping us continue providing free transport to and from hospital for people undergoing cancer treatment.
There’s no charge to take part!
We simply hope that those enjoying the trail will make a donation to Daft as a Brush along the way. This Christmas, we’re hoping every light will shine for a cancer patient we’ve helped get to hospital for their treatment.

When is the Christmas Lights Switch-On?
Our Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm on Friday 13 November 2026.
There will also be activities before the switch-on. We’ll confirm the programme and when to arrive in the coming days, so keep an eye on this page and our social media.

Parking is available at the golf club next door. No parking will be available on the Daft as a Brush site.
Do I need a ticket or have to pay to attend?
No — the switch-on is a free community event, and you don’t need a ticket to attend.
Everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy the lights and share a little festive magic with the community.
Can I make a donation?
Yes. If you would like to support Daft as a Brush, donations are warmly appreciated.
Donations are entirely optional. You’re just as welcome to come along and enjoy the evening without making one.
What will my donation help support?
Your donation helps Daft as a Brush provide free transport for cancer patients travelling to and from treatment across the North East.
Every contribution helps us continue supporting people when they need us most.
Where can I park for the switch-on?
Parking is available at the golf club next door.
No parking will be available on the Daft as a Brush site. Please use the golf club parking when attending the switch-on.
Will refreshments be available?
Yes — refreshments will be available to purchase from the golf club next door.
How long will the Christmas lights be on?
The lights will be on every day from 13 November to 24 December 2026, inclusive, bringing a little extra sparkle to the run-up to Christmas.
We’ll add the daily lighting times here once they’re confirmed.
Can local residents join the Christmas Lights Trail?
Yes! We’re partnering with local residents to help spread the Christmas sparkle throughout the community.
Through the partnership, Daft as a Brush will donate lights to participating residents so they can join the Christmas Lights Trail.

Can I follow the switch-on from home?
We’re planning to share the switch-on live on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so you can enjoy the moment even if you can’t join us in person.
